💡 Our Philosophy
We believe in open innovation. Anyone should be able to study, learn from, and build upon our work. At the same time, we want to ensure the project's long-term sustainability.
The Gestura Prosperity License allows free use for most users while asking larger commercial operations to contribute a small percentage back to fund continued development.
✨ We will never stop others from implementing the same ideas in different ways. We simply want to keep our specific codebase unique to our community.
Who Can Use Gestura for Free?
Personal Use
Hobbyists, students, researchers, and anyone using Gestura for non-commercial purposes
Education & Research
Universities, schools, and research institutions regardless of funding source
Non-Profits
Charitable organizations, NGOs, and public benefit entities
Small Business
Any company with less than $1M annual revenue
Evaluation
90-day commercial trial to test suitability
Contributors
Anyone contributing improvements back to the project
Commercial Use (>$1M Revenue)
For commercial use by entities exceeding $1M annual revenue, we ask for a small contribution:
Option A: Attributable Revenue
3%
of revenue from products/services using Gestura
Option B: Total Revenue
0.5%
of total annual revenue (simpler calculation)
Contributions are due annually within 90 days of fiscal year end. First contribution due after the first full fiscal year of commercial use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this open source?
Gestura is "source-available" rather than "open source" per the OSI definition, due to the revenue sharing requirement. However, the source code is fully visible and auditable, you can modify and redistribute, and most users use it entirely free.
Can I build a competitor?
Yes! You can absolutely build AI assistants, agentic workflows, or any similar product. We just ask that you write your own code rather than copy-pasting ours. Ideas are free; our specific implementation is what we protect.
What if I'm not sure about my obligations?
